When chewing gum sticks to your favorite piece of clothing, it doesn’t have to be a disaster right away. There are several proven methods to remove gum without damaging the fabric:
Using Coldness
One of the simplest methods is to place the clothing in the freezer for about an hour. The gum will harden, and then you can carefully peel it off using a knife or your fingernails. If a piece of gum still remains on the clothing after this process, you can gently scrape it off or use another method mentioned.
Using Heat
You can also try using heat. Place a piece of paper or cloth over the gum and run an iron set to a low temperature over it. The gum should stick to the paper or cloth and release from the clothing. Be careful to keep the temperature low to avoid damaging the fabric.
Using Solvents
For some types of fabric, using solvents like alcohol, vinegar, or adhesive remover can also be effective. Apply a small amount to a cloth and gently rub the area with the gum until it starts to loosen. After removing the gum, wash the clothing thoroughly.
