Two-tone clothing can sometimes cause problems during washing. Darker parts may bleed color, lighter areas can get stained, and the end result might not be what you hoped for. To avoid unpleasant surprises, just follow a few simple washing rules.
What should you do before washing?
- Check the label: Find out the temperature and washing method recommended by the manufacturer.
- Test colorfastness: Dampen a small part of the dark fabric and press a white piece of cloth against it. If the color transfers, wash the clothing with extra care.
- Use the right laundry gel: A colour-safe washing gel helps maintain the intensity of colors and minimizes color bleeding.
How to wash two-colored clothing?
Low temperature and spin speed are key
Wash at a maximum of 30°C to prevent dye from bleeding. Washing at a low spin speed (max. 800 rpm) reduces friction between fabrics and prevents damage.
Turn the clothing inside out
This way, you protect the colours from mechanical damage and fading.
Use colour-catching sheets
They help absorb colour from the water and protect the lighter parts of the garment.
